Boy Scout Groups
Congratulations on your decision to plan a trip to the Matagamon Base for your scout troop! It will surely be an exciting and memorable trip for all who attend!
Mt Chase Lodge has been simplifying trip planning logistics for troop leaders for 40 years. By providing a convenient place to sleep and eat at reasonable cost for crews arriving and departing from the Matagamon High Adventure Scout Base, your planning is taken care of with one phone call. We are a short twenty minute drive from the Matagamon landing where you’ll meet MHA staff at 8AM after 2 meals and a good nights sleep.
We offer an All-inclusive Boy Scout package including:
- A home cooked dinner on the night you arrive
- Comfortable beds & showers
- All you can eat Breakfast on the morning of departure
- Canoes, fire pit & lawn games
- Large gathering area to play games and lounge
Most of our groups arrive in the late afternoon, giving everyone a chance to rest and unwind before dinner, which is served at 6:00 pm. After dinner, scouts may practice those paddling skills on the pond, or take a dip off our dock.
Mt. Chase Lodge makes an excellent transition spot for your adventure, and we enjoy having the scout crews with us!
Get your traveling out of the way, arrive at the lodge the day before your departure date with MHA, sleep in our main lodge, enjoy an all you can eat 3 course dinner and a lumberjack breakfast before you set off on your high adventure trek. We provide towels, but please bring your own sleeping bag.

We offer ROUND TRIP VAN TRANSPORTATION to the Matagamon Scout Base from Bangor for crews who find it more convenient to fly or bus into Maine.
We are only an hour and forty five minute drive from the airport or bus station. With one phone call, leadership can arrange both transportation and lodging with meals, making the travel logistics planning process vastly simpler.
Crews considering this are urged to contact us early, as we may be able to advise them on the best and most cost effective options for public transportation, based on our many years of experience.
After coming off the trail, many crews opt to spend their last night in Maine with us as well, especially if we are providing transportation to Bangor for plane or bus connections. This allows you to get a restful start for your trip home.
We strongly recommend that crews wishing to make reservations with us do so at the time they make their initial reservations with the Matagamon High Adventure base. This avoids scheduling problems later on. A 30% crew deposit is required to confirm reservations.
