Guided Trips

at Mount Chase Lodge

Complete your trip to Maine’s north woods with a Custom Guided Adventure! Our Registered Maine Guides will get you off the beaten path and allow you to experience the Maine wilderness.

Many folks plan their trip to Maine without having a real understanding of how much there is to see.  Without knowing exactly which dirt road to take to get to that trailhead, sometimes it’s daunting to venture into the woods alone without a guide.

We are here to help take that worry away. We want to make sure that you get the experience that you came for whether that is paddling a kayak on a pristine lake or maybe riding your mountain bike to the remote trailhead to then hike to some of the best views the region has to offer. Interested in mountain top yoga? Not a problem! Do you want to learn about wild edibles on your way there?! Sure!

There’s a lot to do up here beyond what the eye can see and our local guide, Michelle is the best person to bring you on that adventure. She’s a registered Maine Guide and she’s a local. She knows this area better than most and she is ready and excited to help you plan the best adventure.

These trips are custom to you! You tell us what you’re interested in doing and we’ll work with you prior to your trip to create an itinerary that will most certainly fulfill your adventurous side.

Hikes & Customer Favorites

Below are a few of our sample hiking itineraries. Choose from these or work with your guide and create your own adventure!

Get off the beaten path and hike like a local! Not frequented by as many hikers as the peaks in nearby Baxter State Park, Mt. Chase is accessed by a rough dirt road (high ground clearance required) and offers amazing views from its rocky summit. Though the moderate hike is not difficult, the trails are lightly marked and, like the trailhead, not always obvious. Hike it with our guide, explore the firewarden's cabin, and keep your eye out for the lodge when you're on top - you can see us from the summit!

Our Sugarloaf doesn't have the lines, people, chairlift, or golf course - what you will find at the small, exposed peak is a 360 degree view of the surrounding forestland. We don't often recommend traveling the woods roads to the trailhead if you have not been there before - it's easy to miss. You will be glad you didn't, though, as you and your guide climb through hardwood stands and then mossy conifers to the summit. Cross your fingers for a clear day and be awestruck by the view of Katahdin from the top!

Travel through varied forest types on one of Baxter's least-known trails while you learn more about the plant life around you. Add in glimpses of Grand Lake Matagamon, rocky ledges to pause for rest on, and a trailhead that departs from the site of an old lumbering supply farm and this quiet, moderate excursion is complete. After a series of false summits, the trail descends from the top of Trout Brook Mountain and follows the Five Ponds Trail back to the parking area. Want to learn plants and local history? This experience is for you.
