Lodge Loop
The Lodge Loop is a winter trail that starts from the parking lot at Mt. Chase Lodge. This wide, flowing path meanders through the woods, providing a perfect experience for beginners. Spanning about 1.3 miles, it crosses a plowed road and transitions onto the multi-use Carl Sprinchorn Trail, which skirts the south side of the thoroughfare on Upper Shin Pond. The loop finishes with a crossing over the frozen lake back to the lodge. Important: Always check with lodge staff about ice conditions before crossing and proceed at your own risk. This trail is not recommended for summer use due to wet conditions.
Lower Stump Dump
Lower Stump Dump is the newest addition to our trail system and is ideal for both winter and summer use.
This machine-built, 0.5-mile trail begins halfway up the summer driveway and follows the hillside across the property, ending near the winter driveway close to Shin Pond Village. Designed as a beginner-friendly mountain biking trail, it’s also perfect for walking, running, skiing, and snowshoeing. The trail features three bridges to navigate wet areas and serves as a connector to other loops in the network.
Upper Stump Dump
Upper Stump Dump offers a more challenging route for mountain bikers and other adventurers.
This hand-built trail winds along a hillside, crossing streams and weaving through the woods. It presents obstacles underfoot, making it a bit more demanding for walkers. In winter, snowshoers will find this trail particularly enjoyable. Upper Stump Dump connects the upper driveway to the village trail and links with Lower Stump Dump near Shin Pond Village’s campground.
Carl Sprinchorn Trail
The Carl Sprinchorn Trail is a multi-use path shared by snowmobiles, ATVs, skiers, snowshoers, and walkers. Despite its versatility, it’s lightly used, so sharing the trail is rarely an issue. If you encounter motorized vehicles, step to the side to give way.
The trail begins at the campground road, crossing Upper Shin Pond’s outlet via a bridge. Along the way, you'll see a notable large rock painted by the famous artist Carl Sprinchorn. The path continues through the woods, offering scenic views of the lodge from across the pond. Watch for signs leading to a side trail that brings you to the water’s edge.
In winter, this trail serves as the return route for the Lodge Loop Trail. Important: Always check with lodge staff about ice conditions before crossing and proceed at your own risk. The trail concludes at Gardner Point Road, where a right turn leads you about 0.25 miles back to the paved Shin Pond Road.
