Mt. Chase Lodge has partnered with Katahdin Air Service to offer scenic flights for our guests. Perfect for couples, families, and small groups of friends, this shared adventure offers a rare opportunity to experience Mt. Katahdin and Baxter State Park from a whole new perspective.

Guests will depart from Lower Shin Pond aboard a Cessna 206 floatplane for a relaxing flight over some of Maine’s most spectacular and undeveloped wilderness.

Mt. Katahdin is located approximately 25 air miles southwest of the lodge, making it an ideal destination for a scenic flight. Guests will board a Cessna 206 float plane, which seats up to four adults, or up to five passengers when smaller adults or children are included.

Flights depart from the seaplane base on Lower Shin Pond, just a short half-mile drive from Mt. Chase Lodge or a relaxing 15-minute walk. Guests will meet their pilot and enjoy a safe, comfortable flight over the Maine wilderness.

From the air, you’ll see the dramatic beauty of Mt. Katahdin and Baxter State Park from a perspective few people ever experience. Likely highlights include the famous Knife Edge, the expansive Tableland, Baxter Peak, the highest point in Maine at 5,269 feet, Hamlin Ridge, and the glacially carved North and South Basins. Passengers may also see the rugged Traveler Range, remote lakes and ponds such as Katahdin Lake and Wassataquoik Lake, winding rivers and streams, wetlands, and endless undeveloped forest.

Wildlife sightings are not guaranteed, but guests may have the opportunity to spot a moose along the way.
